Bars & Clubs

If you have just moved to a new place, or are traveling, finding a fun place to party is often a must. You could try hitting them all to find a favorite hangout, but that may be not only expensive but bad for your health!

The local media can be a big help. Local radio stations often have their DJs make appearances at the most popular clubs and bars, so if you enjoy the kind of music that a certain radio station plays, there's a good chance that you will enjoy the venues that they visit.

Print advertisements can be helpful too, as well as reviews printed in the local newspaper. It is rare to find many ads for clubs or bars advertised on local television though.

You can find almost anything on the Internet of course, including a lot of advertisements for clubs and bars in your area. There are also a lot of online reviews, but try to read those that are written by people who have been to the venues as customers, rather than sites that have been paid to write a flattering review of a club or bar, of which there are many.

Word of mouth is a great way to gauge the local nightlife, or discover a hot new club. If you are from out of town and staying in a hotel the staff at the front desk should be able to point you in the direction of a good club or bar that suits your tastes.

Sometimes it takes taking to the night and checking out the lines outside local clubs, or how many deep the bar is to figure out which club or bar is really worth your money. If a lot of people think its worth the wait to get in, it is probably a pretty good place to hang out.
